Garzeeya Vayguh

The other morning I awake from an evening of excess libations and conversation. A tad hung-over and still half sleep, I receive a text from a good friend. Ok what is this? He knows I can't partake. What Pavlovian terror does they have in store for me this morning? Oh but wait, what is this? New JD’S Revenge song and video? I immediately perk up and become as excited as a grown man waking up alone can be. I also noticed my weary half drunk mind is not ready to receive this new hot-ness. Because I'm like Garzeeya Vayguh- WTF is that? I must first have coffee and a constitutional. So after some coffee and... clearing my throat, I hit play on the video. My first thought was, as someone with film and editing experience, was wow! Who shot this- this looks good as hell! Very well done for a simple set-up and a renegade shoot. Meaning they didn't waist anytime farting around. Clear and crisp, no shaky hand- held shots, and great editing.  I want to say I’m impressed, but the video matches what JDR is. Sharp, proficient, tight, hard, funky, and crazy AF.

Oh shit! I get it! Garcia Vega The cigar commonly used to make Blunts. Back in the day when blunts started to become popular, it was all about Phillies, Swisher Sweets, and Garcia Vega's. Garcia Vega's where the boujee blunts Because they were more expensive so my broke ass never looked there way, but I hear they taste great and burn real slow. Maybe I'm slow, maybe the spelling thru me off, but they are totally cheefin throughout the whole video. That's when I saw Pavlov’s dog run across the foot of my bed. Ha, I thought as I submerge myself into the groove. All smiles and tingly, JDR has done it again. They do what they do and they do it well! Blending, rock, funk, and soul with a classic hip-hop swag. JDR is clearly in a class by themselves picking up where artist like Parliament Funkadelic, Rick James and Prince left off.  Frankie took the purple baton and is now the chosen one to take music to greater heights. JDR to me is like an all star team: you got Darin "D'zel" Nicholson' an amazing power drummer with the right amount of technique and skill. Next is Krystal the left handed sista on bass. She is a monster with five strings,  and to watch her play bass is a life changing experience. Then there is Allegra Dolores on backing vocals. This sister duo is dynamic in their own right with perfect harmony and Moxie to match. Allegra Dolores is like hot sauce, they make everything good just that much better. Then you have Frankie Blaze ‘the master’ on Guitars. Frankie has a resume longer than I have breath to tell it. Frankie a guitar virtuoso with vision, skill and talent whose production skill will  boggle the mind, and his solos will melt your face.  Last but not least is Treneka Lenay lead singer and black Wonder Woman. She has power, she has range, she's fierce and you can't take your eyes off her. Every Ounce of her presence conveys confidence and hella swag. The first time I met Treneka was at a basement party where everybody must have been at least five foot nothing because she towered over the whole crowd like a queen holding Court, and eye could see her clear across the crowd. She wasn't the Queen of JDR yet but I could tell she was destine for something great.

My excitement for JDR is way more than them being Awesome, I also understand and know how hard they work to perfect their craft - And it shows in their latest release. ‘Garzeeya Vayguh’ is not just a weed smokers anthem but a message to the the musical world “we are here, we are badass and we come to funk your face off, and we will not be denied". JDR has persevered through good times and bad, and I can't wait to see what other musical Wizardry they are about to cook up. Check out the link for the video and download
